Blog #2, “I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream” – Harlan Ellison
One of my favorite games/books ever is I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison. In my senior year of high school, I wrote a paper about the game for a writing supplement while filling out my college applications. Here is what I wrote:
This game has been an all-time favorite of mine, despite being very old and glitchy. The paper itself was written for a midterm, and I had the whole class day (about 5 hours) to write this paper. Since I was sick, I was quarantined in a room, sat down, and wrote it all in one go. It was an amazing experience for me to write a paper on one of my favorite creative works of all time. And I would love to come back to this paper and refine it further in the future.
I hope you enjoy reading a fever-struck 18-year-old’s paper as much as she enjoyed writing it.
